Torsion is when an object is rotated in opposite directions. An example of this is when bridges used to twist from the wind. In the tension experiment the straw would sometimes have torsion against it because of the clamps. Soon after it would twist it would usually fall. Another good example of torsion is in the compression test when the the board was not even the straw would fail because of torsion.
edited by Max Torsion springs are used to make a twisting motion that can be used to push things apart.
